European U23 Championships
The club committee and all our members would like to wish David Kenny the very best of luck as he competes for Ireland in the U23 European 20Km Race Walk Championships. The Championships take place from the 8th-11th July in Tallinn, Estonia. David has been a part of our club since he was 8 yrs of age. He represented the club in all types of events, before focusing his athletics career into race walking. He is currently the National Champion and is in the top world rankings. David first got all his Race Walking knowledge from club veteran, Michael O.Connor, where now he is coached by Rob Heffernan.
Munster Juvenile Track & Field
Day 1 & 2 of the Munster Track & Field Championships were held in MTU Track, Cork over the weekend. For most athletes it has been almost sixteen months since they were in competition. The event was very well organised, so special thanks to the Munster committee and volunteers.
Kevin O'Shea competed in the U13 Javelin & Shot Putt. Kevin did extremely well to finish first in the Javelin and was fifth in the Shot.
Eabha McCarthy, equally did well, where she was second in the U16 250m Hurdles and made the finals of the 200m where she finished in fifth place.
Best of luck to Aine O'Shea (U18 Discus) and Patrick Kearney (U18 Discus & Hammer) who will be competing on Day 3 & 4 17th / 18th July.
County Junior / Senior / Masters Track & Field
Best of luck to our thirteen athletes who will be competing in the first County T&F Championships of the year. The events will take place at An Riocht Track, Wednesday 7th July starting at 6pm. Timetable will be issued on Monday / Tuesday. Those competing are:

County Juvenile Track & Field
Dates scheduled for Sunday 1st & Monday 2nd August at an Riocht Track, Castleisland.
Online entry will open in the coming weeks and we will be asking parents to contact the club registrar with childs events if attending. Find attached County Track & Field competition Rules booklet and age category events. Since training commenced our coaches have been providing specific training on all events so that they are prepared for competition.
Community Games Update
This year's community games will go ahead, but with a number of changes due to restrictions. The Denny Athletic County finals at An Riocht track on August 21st & 22nd. Area competitions will be held during the month of July.- One competitor per area goes through to county in each race
- A competitor may not enter a race & a field event
- All competitors must wear footwear on track
- U8 races also on track
- Areas need not supply club singlets.
- Numbers will be provided by the county, & must be worn back & front.
- Regional heats & semi-finals will be held in September for all track events.
- National will be straight finals Sat & Sun Sept 25th & 26th Tullamore
- Field event qualifiers go direct to National finals in Tullamore
- No 80m U8 races- 60m only
- No Relays- No marathon
