Please see below document with details of this years Munster Performance Squad for u16-u20 athletes. The u11-u15 athletes will be catered for with various coaching workshops being held in each county from Jan-May 2013.
Athletes selected on the Performance Squad will be sent a letter by Tuesday 6th November and then must register online to confirm their place on the squad by Monday 12th November.
Can all clubs please make sure the athletes selected register by this date so proper planning for the 1st squad day on Dec 1st can take place.

Squad 2012/2013 Season
Overall Structure: For top u16 (1997)-u20
(1993) athletes in 2012 ages
Daily Timetable Day 1 Saturday 1st
December

10am Registration at Cork IT Track. All members of the
Performance Squad and their personal coaches must attend this session to meet
the head event coaches and discuss the sessions for Jan-Apr 2013.
Coaching:
-
Head coach for each event with assistance from personal
coaches. All personal coaches will be expected to attend with the athlete to
further their development and help head event coach in planning etc.

This year the squad will meet twice as a whole group in Dec
and April and in between the sessions will be organised by the head event coach
in conjunction with the athlete’s personal coaches. This will allow for more
flexibility in fitting sessions in around competitions etc.

Entry Guidelines:

Each head coach given a number of athletes to select from
u16-u20 age groups in 2012 ages with a total of 120 athletes on the squad, an
increase in 30 from last year.
The main
criteria for picking this elite group are:
1) Represented Ireland at Schools/Clubs competition in 2012
2) Who have finished top 3 in
All Ireland Outdoor T&F Championships Schools or Clubs in 2012
3) Who have finished top 3 in All Ireland Indoor T&F Championships
Clubs in 2012 or Who have finished top 5 in All Ireland Outdoor T&F
Championships Schools or Clubs in 2012
4) An athlete new to the sport and displaying great potential &
motivation, who is training seriously and focusing on just athletics.
Application Process:

Athletes selected by head event coach and regional
development officer and invited to confirm place and register online. Full
details of athletes selected will be sent to all clubs and to athletes.

Athletes to pay a total fee of €25 online that covers all
sessions and fill in online sheet giving contact details for parents and
personal coach
