Munster Senior & Novice Road Championships, Inniscarra, Co.Cork

On Sunday 11th March 2012 the Munster Senior & Novice Road Championships were held in Inniscarra, Blarney Co. Cork. The weather conditions were ideal for the 4mile hilly run. Their was a good turn out for both races. 56 athletes in the ladies race and 94 athletes competed in the men's event.
George McCarthy was the clubs only athlete to compete.

The Kerry ladies did exceptionally well in their 4mile race. Niamh O'Sullivan (An Riocht) came in third place, followed by AnnaMerie Costello (Gneeveguilla) in 8th place.
The ladies took the gold in county senior team. The team was made up of:
Niamh O'Sullivan (An Riocht), Ann Marie Costello (Gneeveguilla), Catherine Kiely (Gneeveguilla) & Karina Teehan (St. Finbarr's). Points were 3,6,9,11

The ladies also took silver in the county novice team. The team was made up of:
Karina Teehan (St. Finbarr's), Siobhan Daly (An riocht), Tina Donovan (An Riocht) & Ann O'Riordan (An Riocht). Points were 11,18,43,46

An riocht ladies also took the gold in the club event.

The Kerry men did not fare as well.
Cian Murphy (Iveragh) was first home for Kerry in 7th place with James Doran (An Riocht) just behind taking 8th spot. Young Simon Mangan (Gneeveguilla) ran a strong race to finish 23rd. George McCarthy (Farranfore Maine Valley) was 28th.  Tommy O'Brien (An Riocht), Seamus Murphy (Gneeveguilla), Willie Reidy (An riocht) & Jonathan Leniston (Gneeveguilla) also competed.
