The Munster U/12 to U/19 Indoor Championships was held over the weekend, Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th February.
Congratulations to Aine O'Shea who was third in the U16 Shot and qualifies for the Nationals.
Eabha McCarthy was competing for the very first time at an Indoors event as she focus more on Sprints & Hurdles. Eabha finished 4th in her 60m sprint heat (8.89sec) on day 1 and on day 2 she made the finals of the 60m Hurdles. Finishing in 4th place (unofficial) she was extremely happy with her performance.
Cian Spillane competed in the U16 800m, he did not medal but came 5th overall as he was part of the fastest heat. Nice to see him participate.
County 5K Road Race Championship
The County Junior/Novice/Snr. & Master 5K Road Race Championship was held on Sunday 24th Feb. in Kenmare. It was a well organised event by Kenmare AC. The course was a fast one with flenty of downhill running. The Senior Mens race was won by Conor O'Mahony (An Riocht).
County 5K Road Race Championship
The County Junior/Novice/Snr. & Master 5K Road Race Championship was held on Sunday 24th Feb. in Kenmare. It was a well organised event by Kenmare AC. The course was a fast one with flenty of downhill running. The Senior Mens race was won by Conor O'Mahony (An Riocht).
Arthur Fitzgerald did very well to be placed 6th overall in a time of 16:11.
George McCarthy finished 8th overall (16:39) and was 2nd in his age category.
In the Women's race Mary Daly was the first Senior lady finishing in a time of 17:53.

Our AGM was held last Thursday 21st Feb. There was a strong turnout. The club officers are unchanged so we thank all those for volunteering their free time over 2018 and look forward to a successful 2019.
Coaching Courses:
Three of our club members, athletes and parents, will be participating in the Level 1 coaching course starting next week-end in Tralee. This will help strengthen our clubs coaching group and give more experienced athletics training to our juvenile athletes. We would encourage any parent who would like to help out but is not sure how, to please talk to Jerome, Maria or Sean during the training sessions.

- Juvenile Indoors on Tuesday in the Sports Hall Farranfore from 6pm to 6:45pm. Open to all registered juveniles aged 8yrs (Born 2011) to 12yrs (Born 2006). €2 per session.
- Secondary School / Senior training on Thursday's at 6:30pm in GAA grounds Farranfore. This is endurance build training. €2 club member, €4 non club AAI member .
- Maria's Strength, Endurance & Flexibility Exercise Classes on Tuesday at 7pm in the Sports Hall in Farranfore. €5 per class
