Club Weekly Notes week end 18th Nov. 2018

Munster Masters & Juvenile Club Relays Cross Country Championships.
It was our Masters athletes turn to shine this as they competed in the Munster Masters Cross Country. Held in Clarecastle on what was a glorious sunny day, the ground conditions were very good which made for some very fast running.

In the Masters Women 4000m we had Mary Daly & Caitriona Barry. There was a big field out from all Munster clubs. Mary continued here great cross country season when she started out in the lead group. After only 500m in Mary was positioned in second place overall and held this position right to the end. Mary also won her age category. Catriona Barry was not far behind finishing in eleventh place overall and second in her age category. Catriona was also part of the County O45 team who were placed third.
In the Masters Men 7000m race, George McCarthy was part of the county team. Again a very large field of runners and very fast paced with some top athletes in the mix. George ran well, continuing to move through the field as the race progressed. Just missing out on an individual medal. George was part of the County team to win bronze. Well done to all three.
The very best of luck to our athletes who will be travelling to Abbotstown competing in the first National XC race of the season.
Further afield, Cathal Kirwan completed the Larnaca Half Marathon,he completed it in 1:37 and was 3rd in my age group.
A huge congratulations & well done to Julie Deane who completed The Kerry Crusaders 10km race on Saturday17th Nov. in a new personal best time of 48.52. Julie has had a very successful year on the roads completing marathons, half marathons & 10kms throughout the year with plenty of PBs achieved.
