Club Weekly Notes end March 11th 2018

It was an action packed week with a wide variety of events scheduled throughout the country. Thanks to all who sent on their results, much appreciated.

Liath Lenihan & Natasha Myers competed in the Munster Schools Indoor on March 6th in Nenagh, representing Killorglin CC. Natasha did a PB in the Long Jump.

On Saturday 10th March, the National Schools Cross Country Championships were held in Waterford IT. It was a testing course where ground conditions were very muddy following the snow melt along with a few sharp inclines. Cian Spillane (Milltown Pres.) competed in the Minor Boys 2500m race. It was a very fast race from the gun with nienty boys fighting to push forward in a packed group. Cian fought very hard and finished in a well deserved 26th place overall.
Shauna McCarthy (Killorglin CC) competed in the Junior Girls 2500m race. Shauna after 1000m into the race was positioned just inside the top twenty group. As the race progressed the heavy conditions underfoot was proving very difficult for the front runners. However, Shauna was literally taking it in her stride and was moving through the field with every step. In the last 400m Shauna was now in eleventh place, she fought hard for the last few meters to finally finish in 8th place overall. This was a great achievement for Shauna and her school. Well done to both of you.

Also on Saturday last was the County Juvenile Sports Hall Games, held in Nagle Rice Community Center Milltown. Their was a great turnout from all clubs, with all the young boys & Girls competing having a very enjoyable day.
