Awards Night
The Club Awards night was held in Sherwoods Bar, Farranfore on Friday night last. Jerome Crowley and his team are to be commended on organising such an enjoyable and well attended event. We brought together the 1959/60 Cross Country club team to honor their achievements in participation with the club over the years. The Farranfore AC team beat Killarney by 26 points in in the 1959-60 Cross Country Championships. The same team except for Paddy Murphy, "Posh" Cronin and John J. Cronin, won the Kerry Novice XC Championships in Currow. Sean Cronin was the individual winner and captain of both winning teams. The Senior Cross Country Champions team were: Michael Kelly, Mike Walsh, Mattie Horgan, Sean Daly, Tom Walsh "Posh" Cronin, Pa Sullivan, Paddy Murphy, Sean Cronin, John O'Donoghue & John J. Cronin. We would like to thank all of the team who traveled from afar to attend the night. Especially Donal Brassil who travelled from Carlingford Co. Louth and Michael Kelly and family from Kilmichael in Cork.

George McCarthy received the Gerald Fitz Cup for Cross Country & Roads;
Maria McCarthy received the Breda Brosnan Cup for Ladies Track & Field;
Jim O'Shea received the New York Trophy for Masters Track & Field,
Sean O'Shea received the George Walsh Cup for Throwing;
Rossa Foley received the Dr. E O'Sullivan Cup for Mens Senior Track & Field;
David Kenny, Niall & Emma Prendiville received a special merit award for Race Walking.
Tom McCarthy received the Hall of Fame Nelligan Cup.
Mary Kennedy & Pauline Joseph received the Club Person's award for their hard work and commitment throughout the years.
Our Ladies & Mens Cross country teams were awarded for their achievements at Munster level where the womens team was first in Munster Senior XC & the Mens were 3rd in the Munster Intermediate XC. The Hall Of Fame went to John McCarthy.

The National Senior Indoor Championships were held in Abottstown Dublin over last weekend. Rossa Foley was our only athlete competing. Rossa was 10th in the Shot and 9th in the Triple Jump (10.80m).
Munster Juvenile Indoors for U9 to U12 were held in Nenagh on Saturday the 10th Feb.
Mairead Walsh taking on the indoors for the very first time competed in the U12 600m. Mairead had a great run, finishing 4th in her heat to make the final and finish in 16th overall. Well done.

Race three of the Gneeveguilla AC 5k series held in Killarney on Saturday 17th Feb. Note route was approx. 100m short of 5K. George McCarthy was 6th overall 16:38. Maria McCarthy was 2nd lady 18:25 & Marie McKenna was 18th (19:22). The final race will be on Saturday 24th Feb. @11am in Killarney.
Club Training:.
Juvenile Indoor training every Tuesday from 6pm to 6:45pm at Farranfore Community Sports Hall. This is for children born 2010 (7/8yrs) to 2006 (12yrs). €2 per session. New comers always welcome.
Maria's Strength, Endurance & Flexibility Exercise Class every Tuesday from 7pm to 8pm in Farranfore Community Hall. €5 per session
Secondary School & Senior training on every Thursday at 6:30pm in GAA grounds Farranfore. This is endurance / distance training. €2 club member, €4 non club member.
