Club Weekly Notes July 2017

FARRANFORE MAINE VALLEY Athletic Club
Day 1 of the Kerry County Juvenile Championships for U9 to U16 age groups took place on Wednesday July 5th in An Riocht Athletics Track, Castleisland. The club was well represented and everyone did very well, with 16 individual medals and many making it to the finals.

Shauna McCarthy 1st U14 800m, 
Siofra Foley 3rd U16 100m, 2nd U16 Shot & 3rd Hammer
Jimi Fenton 1st U14 80m sprint,

Conall Whelan 1st U16 Shot & 2nd U16 4Kg Hammer, 
Isabel Norris 3rd U13 Javelin,
Aine O'Shea 1st U16 Hammer, 2nd High Jump & 6th U15 Javelin, 
Patrick Kearney 1st U14 Hammer, 
Alice Norris 2nd U16 Hammer & 5th U16 Shot, 
Doireann O'Shea 1st U12 High Jump. 
Some who made the finals and just missed out Cormac Costello 6th U13 80m, Ellen Kelliher 6th U13 80m, Mairead Walsh 5th U13 60m, Isaac Vickers 6th U9 60m.

Day 2 of the Kerry County Juvenile Championships for U9 to U16 age groups will take place on Saturday 15th July at 11am . Full list of events post in Kerry Athletics website and on Facebook. Preregistration required, so please contact Club Secretary, Mary 085 1909509.

Day 1 & 2 of the Irish Life Health National Juvenile T&F Championships Day took place over the weekend. 
Cian Spillane was competing in the U14 800m distance race. Cian ran very well to finish on podium. Cian ran a personal best time of 2:15.03, less than a second off 2nd place winner. A great achievement for such a young athlete. 
Patrick Kearney was also representing our club in the U14 2.5Kg Hammer. Patrick was placed 5th with a best throw of 25.20m. 
Conall Whelan who has made great progress over the last year took part in the U15 3Kg Hammer. Conall had a best throw of 40.83m finishing in 5th place, which was less than 1m outside a podium spot.

Club Training:
The holidays are here so all training sessions are finished for the summer. But we will be back the end of August for the start of cross country season!!!! Best of luck to all our athletes for the rest of the season you are well prepared.
