Munster Masters & Juv 'B' Cross Country Championships 2015

Well done to our athletes who braved Hurricane Clodagh in Cappawhite, Co. Tipperary on Sunday November 29th for the Munster Masters Cross Country Championships. In what was a pretty atrocious day for running with blistering cold winds and mucky wet conditions.

The women's masters race was held over 4Km where over sixty athletes competed. Maria McCarthy took the lead from the start and made light work of the mud bath course. It was a difficult 1500m lap with a strong 800m climb, followed by a number of undulating hills and then into a steep downhill through very muddy terrain. Maria retained her Masters title with ease and also took gold in her age category. Maria's sister, Grainne Tierney, ran extremely well and was getting stronger as the race went on moving up a number of positions. She finished 6th in the O35 category. Jane Hewitt who finished just behind Grainne was 8th in the O35's. A great performance from these two novice runners. Well done to all who travelled from the club
