In the Juveniles we had only one representative from our club. Cian Spillane who finished second in the Munsters XC some weeks ago was part of the U12 Munster team. Cian got off to a good start and was mixing well with the front pack. Half way into the 2000m distance Cian began to feel the pressure and lost a few places. Cian held on to finish 31st overall and 7th place for Munster team. The Munster team won bronze. Cian has had a great season this year, regularly competing at national level. He is still very young and shows great potential for the future. The club is very proud of his performance and commitment to the sport of athletics.
In the Inter Clubs Senior Women's event, the club fielded a team for the very first time. The team comprised of Maria McCarthy, Caitriona Barry, Grainne Tierney & Jane Hewitt. Although they did not feature in the team medal prizes we are very grateful for the hard work put in by the team all season and a testament to their coach, mentor and very important team member Maria McCarthy. Grainne & Jane who are new to the club, will have gained valuable experience competing at such a high level. It's not always about winning, it's about competing as a team and coming away smiling with plenty of good memories. We're all extremely proud!
