Maria McCarthy was in action again this week when she competed in the Senior Womens 8K race. It was four laps of a very hilly and undulating surface for the athletes to contend with. Maria ran a very solid race and finished in second place to take individual silver. Kerry took all three podium positions with Shona Heaslip winning the senior title and Niamh O'Sullivan taking the bronze. A great achievement for the county.
In the county team positions, Niamh Clifford (Star Of The Laune) was called up when other members fell ill. Niamh who was also part of the National Novice ladies team who were 2nd overall ran well to secure county team gold with just 1 point to spare. Shows how important every position is no matter how far back you are in the field.
In the Senior Mens Race Tim O'Connor of An Riocht was first home for Kerry in 7th place. With the help of his team mates they secured bronze for the county. An Riocht team were in 4th place.
