Yet again it was the Kerry Womens team that performed brilliantly on the day. Running for Kerry in the Womens Novice 4K race were: An riochts: Laura Crowe, Deirdre Enright & Mary O'Connor. Catherine Kiely, Gneeveguilla and our very own Maria McCarthy.

In a field of over 100 athletes, Laura Crowe (An Riocht) was the easy winner with Maria running a really strong race to take 4th position. Maria was just 2 seconds behind the 3rd place finisher. Next home was Deirdre Enright, Catherine Kiely and Mary O'Connor. They all ran very strong to take Bronze for the county. Very well done.

Maria has been a part of the womens team over the last three week-ends where she has helped them to win medals in all 3 events. This is an achievement never witnessed in a very long time in the county. We are all very proud of her.

In the Mens Novice 6K race the county also fielded a team. We had Arthur Fitzgerald and George McCarthy in the team with Cian Murphy, James Doran, Darren Burke, Robert Purcell and Ed Murphy.
Overall the team did very well, they finished sixth overall with a total points of 311. This was a big improvement from last years points of well over 400. Finishing positions were Cian Murphy, James Doran, Darren Burke, Arthur Fitzgerald, Rob Purcell, George McCarthy and Ed Murphy.

In the Juveniles we had Natasha Myers competing in the U11's. This was Natasha's first time at the Nationals and she was representing Munster province following her great run in Waterford some weeks ago. She finished 33rd out of a field of well over 140. Munster went on to win the gold in the provincial scoring. Natasha has another year in the U11 age so we are sure to see her back at the nationals again.
