Easter Week-End Road Races

Easter weekend was packed with plenty of local roads races for all athletes.

On Friday 6th we had the Feet First GOOD FRIDAY RUN 5miler around the streets of Killarney.
428 runners competed in this charity race. Congrats to all the race organisers for putting on a good show. Never easy organising a road race in a busy town.
The race had a surprise show with athlete Linda Byrne who won last years Dublin City Marathon in sub 2hrs 37min to qualify for the London Olympics. Linda was the fist lady home (4th overall) with a time of 27:05. The fist male home was Sean Conolly with a time of 24:41.
From our club, George McCarthy finished in 5th spot with a time of 28:24 to take first in the M35 category. Caitriona Barry finished well up (8th lady) and took 2nd in the M35 category with a time of 34:03.
Also well done to all our Fit4Life athletes who took part.

96 runners turned out for this 4 mile race in North-West Cork. The mens race was won by Ed Murphy in 21:15. The womens race was won by Carol Finn of Leevale AC in 25:30
From our club we had Arthur Fitzgerald running. He finished in 3rd place with a time of 22:46. Arthur has been out due to injury for almost two months, so this was a good result. Welcome back!!
