The uneven ages took place in Killarney on the 1st
weekend of October. Amelia O Sullivan did excellently in her first race in the
U 9 girls.
Ethan O Sullivan won his first medal in the u 9 boys with
Daithi Fleming not too far behind.
Fionn Hogan and Thomas Ryan were our competitors in the U 11
boys and ran well in a very fast paced event. Ryan Vickers had a great tussle
in the u 13 boys with his superior sprinting speed just getting him across the
line in first position.
Conor McCarthy again game 2nd despite running out
of age with Isaac hot on his heels in 3rd position. Laura Bradley
fresh from her success in the community games was our final juvenile competitor
finishing 3rd in the U 17 girls.
Dermot Dineen completed a massive achievement in running
from Dublin to Kerry. Dermot started on a Thursday morning in Dublin at Crumlin
hospital waved off by the staff that excellently looked after his daughter
Hazel while she was sick. He was accompanied along the way by many of his club
colleagues making it home on Sunday afternoon. There was a huge turnout of the
local community to cheer him on as he made his way through Farranfore and
Firies on his way to his home in Ballyhar. He raised over €25,000 for the Crumlin
Children’s Hospital.
We had 2 competitors in the Munster cross country
championships Cork on the 23rd. Isaac Vickers ran a storming race to
finishes 5th followed closely by Connor McCarthy in 22nd.
Well done to both !
