Club Notes Week Ending 22nd Apr 2019


NOTE: Juvenile Training Tuesday 23rd april Cancelled. Back to normal on Tuesday 30th April.
Thursday Night Training will be in An Riocht Track starting at 7:45pm. €3 and must be Athletic Ireland registered.

Day 1 of County Juvenile Track & Field C'Ships (U9 to U16) will be on Sunday 5th May. We are encouraging all juveniles to participate. Day 2 will be on Sunday 12th May. Pre-Registration required so please let us know at training your chosen events. We want to put Rlay teams together so its important we know who will be attending.

The Junior, Senior and Master Tack and Field Championships will be held at An Riocht on Monday 6th May. All county entries through club secretary only please. Guest welcome.

Club Awards Celebration
Our Club awards was held on Monday Night, 22nd April in Sherwoods Bar, Farranfore. This was awards for our Junior / Senior & Masters achievements in 2018. Thanks to Sherwoods for providing the venue and some lovely food. Recognition to club chairman, Jerome Crowley, for organising the event, Mike O'Connor, Jim O'Shea & Maria McCarthy for the commentary. Our deserved award winners were: Senior Track Dermot Dineen & Niamh De Hora; Masters Track: Jerome Foley & Maria McCarthy. Throws award went to Rossa Foley & Sean O'Shea. David Kenny & Michael O'Connor in the Race Walking. In Cross Country & Roads: George McCarthy & Mary Daly for Senior category with Marie McKenna in Masters.
A special recognition award went to Jim O'Shea for his Gold medal in the European Masters Indoors. Club Person's award went to our six ladies who year in year out provide the refreshments for our annual St. Stephens Road race and supports us at Club events. Thanks to all who attended and hope you have a successful 2019 in the sport of athletics.


Jack O'Keeffe 4Mile
The annual Jack O'Keeffe 4 mile road race which is run from Boherbue to Kiskeam took place on Easter Monday. Organised by Gneeveguilla AC. Artur Fitzgerald was 10th (22:50). Brendan Lynch was 20th and 2nd in his category (24:48). Maria McCarthy was 3rd senior lady (25:00). Dermot Dineen (25:25) & Caitriona Barry (27:10) 5th senior.

Well done also to Julie Deane who competed in the Ballybunion Half and to Arthur Firtzgerald who started on in the 10K and endied up doing the half marathon...Well done


Club Training:
  • Tuesdays @ Farranfore GAA Grounds, €2, Juveniles U9 / U10 Outdoors 6 to 7pm (All events). Juveniles U11-U16 Outdoors 6 to 7:30pm (Sprints & Mid. Distance).
  • Thursday @ An Riocht Track, Castleisland, €3 Club Member €5 other. Juveniles U11-U16 & Senior 7:45 to 9:15pm (All events). NOTE: Must be Athletic Ireland Registered to attend.
  • We welcome new members to come along to training and try it out. If you are happy you can register after two sessions. See our website for full details.
