County Novice, U23 & Juvenile Even AGE XC C'Ships

The 2015 Cross Country Season kicked off in glorious sunshine last Sunday in Killarney with the County Novice, U23 & Juvenile Even Ages Championships.
The first race of the day was the women's Novice 3000m race. The club team was made up of Pauline Joseph, Danielle Corkery and our two new members Grainne Tierney & Jane Hewitt. Unfortunately they missed out by just two points to earn themselves a team medal. Grainne was our first member home, soon followed by Jane, Danielle & Pauline.
The Novice winner was Sharon Cahill (An riocht AC)
The Novice Men's winner was Cillian O'Donovan (Iveragh AC)

In the Juveniles races we had a total of 22 athletes competing. Some for the very first time. They all performed exceptionally well.
In the U10 1000m race, Eabha McCarthy finished in 2nd place following a very impressive final 100m sprint. Doireann O'Shea ran equally as well and finished in 7th place, also earning herself an individual medal. The girls team won Bronze. Other team members were Amy Kelliher, & Mairead Walsh.
In the boys U10 we had three competing: Diarmuid Kirwan, Kian Costello & Sean Galvin. They all ran very well, with Diarmuid & Kian finishing in the top 20.
Shauna McCarthy continued her dominance in her age category when she ran a very solid 2000m to win the U12 Girls race. The other team members ran very well especially, Alice Casey , Ellen Kelliher and Aine O'Shea. The team performance combined made it possible for them to take silver. The other team members were Meabh Coleman, Emma Casey, Elaine McMahon & Caoimhe O'Brien.
Cian Spillane had an easy win in the Boys U12 race, with team mate Cormac Costello finishing in 3rd place & Conal O'Mahony also winning individual medal. Malachy Kirwan followed by Riain Foley, competing for the first time, made up the team where they deservedly took gold.
In the Girls U14 3000m race, Natasha Myers, running out of age, finished in third place with team mate Siofra Foley also doing very well to complete this long distance. A special thanks to the parents and volunteers who helped out on the day.
