Nutritional needs for Young Athletes

With the Cross Country Season training in full swing it is very important for our kids to have a healthy diet in order for them to sustain running for longer distances.

"Kids who eat healthy, well-balanced meals and snacks will get the nutrients needed to perform well in sports. To exercise consistently, you need to provide a good supply of high-quality energy to your working muscles. The easiest way to do this is to eat a balanced breakfast and continue eating a variety of high-quality foods throughout the day
Kids who are involved in endurance sports like athletics that can involve 1 to 1½ hours of activity at a time may need to consume more food to keep up with increased energy demands."
