Kerry Community Games Athletics Finals 2015

Castleisland was the place to be over the week-end of June 20th & 21st when the County Finals for the Community Games Athletics 2015 was held over two days. This is one of the major events for juvenile athletics organised in the county. Our club had many members competing for their parish with the hope of winning gold to represent Kerry in the National Community Games Finals which are held in Athlone Sports Arena in August.

We had some great performances from all our athletes with many advancing to the semi-finals and finals of their chosen event. Listed below are only those athletes who medalled.


Representing Milltown/Listry: Eabha McCarthy won Gold in the U10 60m Hurdles for the second year in a row. Her sisters, Shauna was 3rd in the U12 600m & Rhian made it to the finals of the U8 80m. Cian Spillane was 3rd in the U12 600m. Leanne Cronin was 4th in the U16 Discus with a pb throw of over 21 meters.


Representing Keel/Kiltalagh: Natasha Myers was 4th in the U14 800m, 4th in U14 Relay & 6th in the Long Jump. Ellen Kelliher was 2nd in the U10 200m. Her sister Amy made it to the finals of the U8 80m. Leah Foley was 3rd in U12 Ball Throw. Liath Lenihan, Corrina Griffin & Leah Foley was part of the U12 relay team who finished 3rd.

Representing Firies: Thomas Murphy won Gold in the U16 Discus. Ciara Kearney won Gold in the U14 javelin. Mairead Walsh was 3rd in the U8 80m. Sarah Kennedy was 4th in the U14 Shot. Elaine Norris was 2nd in the U16 Triple Jump. Ciaran O´Brien 4th in U14 Shot.

Representing An Ghaeltacht: Sean Finton was 3rd in the U10 200m. Malachy Kirwan also made the finals of the U12 100m where he finished in 5th place. His brother Diarmuid also competed and made it to the semi-finals of the U10 200m
