Munster Road Championship 2015

The 4 mile Munster Road Championship was held on Sunday 29th March in Kilmallock Co. Limerick where the Senior, Novice and Masters titles were up for grabs.
The 4 mile course had a number of undulating hills but it was the strong head wind that the runners had to contend with in the second half of the race which made this a tough course for most.
Kerry was very well represented in both the ladies & mens races from five clubs. All clubs doing exceptionally well.

First to run was the ladies 4 mile distance with close over 70 runners taking part. Like in the Munster Senior XC C'ships back in January, the Kerry ladies took all three podium positions.
1st   Shona Heaslip (An Riocht)
2nd  Maria McCarthy (Farranfore Maine Valley)
3rd   Niamh O'Sullivan (An Riocht)

Maria McCarthy showed that she will be a force to be reckoned with in masters running when she picked up a total of six munster medals. Maria finished 2nd overall in the Senior race and in doing so claimed the Novice and O40 Master titles. Maria was part of the county teams in each of these categories which medalled.

In the mens 4 mile race there were over 100 participating.
Tim O'Connor (An Riocht) following on from his county championship win last week ran a superb race against tough competition to finish in 4th place overall and claiming the Novice and O35 Master title.

1   James McCarthy East Cork Cork
2   Sean McGrath East Cork Cork
3   Philip Harty West Waterford
4   Tim O’Connor An Riocht

Ger Ladden was in action in his masters O50 category where he finished third and also medalled in the master county team.
Well done to you both on a brilliant Munster winning performance.
