The Annual Mizuno Feet First Good friday 5miler took place around the streets of Killarney on the evening of 29th April. Just under 500 runners of all abilities took part in the two lap route through the town. The atmosphere was simply electric.
Congrats to the race organisers in putting together a top notch event.

Turbo Javelin Workshop Borrisokane Wed 27th March
The re scheduled Turbo Javelin Workshop is taking place on Wednesday 27th March at the Borrisokane Athletics Complex with registration at 7pm sharp. It is open to all athletes and coaches aged 7+ and the cost is €5 payable at reception.
AAI Juvenile Indoor C'Ships 2013
The Woodie’s DIY National Juvenile Indoor Championships took place this weekend (23rd/24th) for the first time in the state of the art Athlone International Arena.
There was a packed programme of events, which saw the best of Ireland’s young athletics talent in action in a wide range of running, jumping and throwing events. There were eight different age categories for both the girls and boys (U12, U13, U14, U15, U16, U17, U18, and U19), with over 1,000 athletes competing at the 2013 Championships.
From our club we had Luke mangan competing in the U16 High Jump. Luke finished in joint 6th place with a jump of 1.55m. Well done.

Munster Masters Road Championships..2013
This years Munster 4mile road race Championships were held on Sunday March 24th in Moyglass, Co. Tipperary. It was a dry cold afternoon with a cool breeze to contend with.
50 athletes took part in the masters women. This was won by local athletes Angela McCann Clonmel A.C. (O40). Kerry had no women competing
In the master mens their was a strong field of almost 130 athletes. The winner was Wieslaw Sosnowski of Eagle AC. In the O40 category John Barret of Gneeveguilla took gold and his club mate Robert Purcell took silver. Kevin Griffin of Gneeveguilla was fifth in the O50's while Pat O'Shea of Iveragh continued his domination in the O60's when taking the gold. Well done to all of the above

County Workshops .. Friday 29th March
Message for all club coaches.
There will be County workshops for the following on Good Friday 29th march 2013 in Castleisland from 4pm to 6pm.
Long Jump for boys and girls ages u14 to u19. Coach-Marie Godley.
If numbers are large this may be two one hour sessions.
Hurdles, this session is restricted to 6 athletes.Athletes are preselected, Coach-Ger Cremin.
There will be County workshops for the following on Good Friday 29th march 2013 in Castleisland from 4pm to 6pm.
Middle Distance for boys and girls ages u16 to u19. Coach- Niamh O Sullivan.
U14 and U15 will be on at a later date.

There is a charge of 5Euro per athlete to offset cost. The County Board is subsidising the cost of the track.

MALLOW 10 Mile Road Race 2013
The Mallow AC 10 mile road race was held on Monday 18th March. Their was close to 900 participants it what was a very well organised road race. The day stayed dry with little wind, so it made ideal conditions for the runners.
Compliments to the race organisers who marshaled the route very well, great support and the grub afterwards was spot on.

Tralee International Marathon 2013
The Kerry's Eye Tralee International Marathon was held on March 16th 2013 at 09:00 in Tralee. There was also a half marathon event which started at 09:30. The races finished in Tralee Town Park at the Ashe Memorial Hall. The weather conditions were excellent, no wind, dry and sunny. There was an amazing atmosphere around the town which fully embraced the marathon. Organisation was spot on for all aspects of the race. Congratulations to everyone involved.
The Tralee International Marathon was also the inaugural Kerry Marathon and Half Marathon championship.

British Masters Indoor Track and Field Championships 2013
The British Masters Indoor Track and Field Championships were held in Lee Valley on the 9th and 10th March 2013.
From our club we had Jim O'Shea taking part in a series of events. This is a highly competitive championships. Jim did very well to finish 1st in the High Jump and and 2nd in the Long Jump.

Munster Senior and Novice Roads C'Ship 2013
The Munster Senior and Novice Roads Championship were held in NewtownShandrom, Co.Cork on Sunday 10th March. It was a very wet and cold day for the four mile race event.
Congrats to North cork AC for hosting the event. It was very well organised with plenty of stewards and support throughout the race.
In the women's 4 mile race, Kerry was well represented with athletes from most clubs attending.

Irish Schools XC C'Ships - 2013
The 2013 Aviva Irish Schools’ Cross Country Championships took place in the University of Ulster, Jordanstownon Saturday, 9th of March. The conditions were wet and windy making for a feast of cross country action with many of Ireland’s brightest young distance runners battling it out for individual and team honours.
Sean Tobin (High School Clonmel) and Siofra Cleirigh Buttner (Colaiste Iosagain) lived up to their billing and impressively won the senior titles.
David Kenny a member of our club representing St. Brendans College in Killarney competed in the Junior Boys XC race. David ran a strong race to finish in 44th place out of a field of 103.

Coaching Workshops in March in South West
Details of upcoming workshops and courses in March are below:
- Wednesday 13th March Throws Workshop at Castleisland Track 7-9pm. It will be run by Munster Performance Squad Coach John Sheehan (Javelin) and Jerry Horgan (Shot). It takes place from 7-9pm and is open to all athletes and coaches aged 10+. Cost is €5 payable on the night.
- Wednesday 20th March Turbo Javelin Workshop in Borrisokane Co Tipperary from 7-9pm. This will be run by Louis Wildenboer. Open to all athletes and coaches aged 7+. Cost is €5 payable on the night.
- Thursday 28th March Fit4Life Workshop in Ballincollig Co Cork from 6.45-9pm. This workshop is free. Please contact Claire on 021 4665083 or email churley@corksports.ie for more information and to book places.

Juvenile Development Sports..23rd march
This year Listowel AC will host the Juvenile Development Sports which will take place in Listowel Community Centre on 23rd March 2013 starting at 11am.
Any athlete that won a medal in the 2012 Outdoor Track & Field County Championships is not allowed to compete.
Events will cater for U9 to U14 girls and boys.

LEEVALE AC - Track and Field Meet 2013
The Leevale 2013 Open T&F Meet takes place at CIT on the weekend of 20\21 April. This is the weekend after the intervarsities, which are also being held in Cork this year. The Leevale meet is an ideal opportunity for athletes to start their preparations for the upcoming outdoor season.
Like last year, it will be a two-day event; the junior and senior programme will be on the Saturday, juvenile events on Sunday. It promises to be a great weekend of T&F action in Cork!
