Munster Juvenile Uneven Age & Intermediate XC Results

Munster Juvenile Uneven Age & Intermediate Cross Country Championships were held last Sunday 11th November 2012, Carriganore, WIT, Co. Waterford.
It was again a lovely sunny day with little or no wind. The course however was a different story. As some commented on it as " An Animal of a Course!!".
It was an extremely hilly course which would test all athletes both Juvenile and Intermediate.

Our club had a number of athletes competing on the days XC events. First up were our U9 Girls team of five runners. They consisted of: Shauna McCarthy, Katie O'Sullivan, Corrina Griffin, Ellen O'Sullivan and Dearbhla Brosnan. They all performed extremely well, Shauna was the first Kerry runner over the line in 24th place out of a strong field of 69. Our club finished in 5th place and county just missed out in the medals taking 4th spot.

In the U11 Girls we had: Natasha Myers, Elaine O'Donoghue and Megan Brosnan. Natasha finished an impressive 9th place and will now represent Munster in the National Juvenile XC Championships in Wexford later on. Elaine ran an extremely strong race to finish in 27th place and Megan also ran very well to take 78th place. Again our county just missed out in the medals taking 4th spot.

Niamh De Hora competed in the U19 race and ran a hard race to finish in 3rd place. This was a very tough course so well done Niamh.

George McCarthy competed in the Intermediate Mens 8K race. It was a competitive field and the pace was fast from the onset. The runners had to do 4 laps of an extremely gruelling course and after the first lap the field had spread out. George finished in 15th place, well done.
