County XC Juvenile & Novice 2012

This years Cross Country got off to a start on Sunday 7th October in Killarney with the Juvenile Even Age and Novice events. The event was organised by Gneeveguilla AC in Killarney.
This year saw the Juvenile and womens Novice distances increased to the regulated distances.

Firstly we must thank Arthur Fitzgerald for preparing the juvenile athletes for the cross country. The results show how strong our young athletes were in racing such long distances. Thanks also to Mary & Jerome for their support each week at training.

The event started off with the girls U10 1000m distance. Our own Natasha Myers took Gold and we got silver in the team.

The U10 Boys also performed very well.

In the Girls U12,  Elaine O'Domoghue finished in a strong 3rd place.
Aaron Flynn ran a a very strong race in the U12 Boys 2000m to take silver

In the Boys U14, David Kenny finished in 3rd Place.

Cassandra Myers took Silver and Brid Kerrisk took Bronze in the U18 girls category.

In the Novice Womens 4000m, Niamh De Hora took gold very comfortably and she was followed home by team mate Caitriona Barry to take silver. This was Caitriona's first cross country race, so well done.

In the Novice Mens race, 6000m it was one of the best Novice race in years. The race was very tight up front with 3 runners contesting the U18 title and two runners competing for the Novice mens title.
Well done to George McCarthy who just missed out in the Novice gold. He finished just seconds behind the winner (Darren Burke An Riocht) to take silver. Farranfore took silver in the Novice team: Jason Kerins, Niall Prendiville, George McCarthy and Ger Ladden.
