This was the third year of this 10 mile road race in Cobh on Great Island in Cork Harbour with all proceeds going to the Irish Cancer Society.
There was a huge increase in numbers this year with 604 runners turning out, an increase of 53% on the last year's figure of 394. This course is famous for it spectacular scenery and very hilly course. As the locals say "The only thing flat about Cobh is the water".
The mens race was won by Sandis Bralitis of West Waterford AC in a time of 53:23. The first woman home was Annmarie Holland of Eagle AC in a time of 62:56
From our club, George McCarthy finished in 9th place with a time of 59:32.
