GloHealth Inter County Cross Country Championships 2016

The the GloHealth Inter County Cross Country Championships took place on Sunday 14th February at the Palace Grounds in Tuam Co. Galway.

Unfortunately the trend has continued with a large decline in the number of athletes competing in the Senior races. With just 37 in senior men's and 18 in the Women's. Normally attendance would be well over 100 competing in each race.

Something needs to be done here if the cross country championships are to be kept alive.

Congratulations must go to Shona Heaslip, An Riocht AC, who won the senior ladies 8,000m title very comfortably. Shona has had a very good cross country season this year and well deserved. Kerry ladies also won team silver. The team was made up of Shona, Niamh O'Sullivan, Niamh Clifford & Mary O'Connor.
