Cathal took time out of his busy schedule to take part in the 21Km distance.
Under the extreme climate change compared to Ireland, Cathal did very well to finish in 186th place in a time of 1:47:25 with over 12,000 participants taking part.

Cathal will miss out on seeing his two sons competing in the County Cross Country Championships next Sunday, but we are sure that they will do him proud.
Cathal's own description of the race.
"I arrived here in Singapore two days before and was not quite over the jet lag. I managed three hours sleep the night before and was up at 03:45 hrs for a race start at 05:30 hrs. You will see in the photo the darkness, which was just about daylight by the end of the race. The temperature was between 26-28 degrees with 85-90% humidity at the start and closer to 30 by the end. I managed to get round in 1:47:25 with 186 place finish. My legs were like lead for the last 5 miles but, I pushed through. It is a good example of how the body reacts in different environments. I started off at a sub 1:40 pace hoping that was within my limits after finishing Dingle in 1:33 fresh from Singapore three weeks earlier. By mile 5 I had revised my estimate and was unsure of finishing by mile ten. I cleared the stadium at 07:25 hrs and was in the bus to work at the shipyard by 0800hrs. Not the best way to come out of a run, so I have been suffering the consequences this week. I managed four slow miles on Monday and a more active one last night. It really knocked me back, but I suppose you have to listen to the body. Slow recovery in the next week."
