WMA Indoors 2014 in Budapest - Irish Masters Athletics Review


The city of Budapest, capital of Hungary, was host to the 2014 WMA Indoor Championships from Tues 25th through to Sunday 30th March. Ann Woodlock, Ireland, Donore Harriers A.C., with her Silver and Bronze Medals. Winning Gold in the Womens O75 1500m, in a time of 7:27:21 and Bronze in the Womens O75 3000m, in a time of 16:03:58, at the 2014 World Masters Athletics Indoor Championships in Budapest


Brian Lynch, Ireland, North East Runners A.C., with his Gold Medal, which he won in the Mens O60 1500m and also set a new World Record of 4:26:62


Mick Traynor, Ireland, Raheny Shamrock A.C., with his Silver Medal, which he won in the Mens O45 Cross Country event


Joe Gough, Ireland, West Waterford A.C., with his Gold and Bronze Medals. Winning Gold in the Mens O60 800m, in a time of 2:15:08 and Bronze in the Mens O60 1500m, in a time of 4:33:68

Mary Barrett, Ireland, added to her vast collection of medals with another bronze in the W55 Shot Putt.
John McDermott, Ireland, Bronze in the O/65 Pentathlon.
Geraldine Finegan, Ireland, Bronze in O/45 Pentathlon.

We had two competitors from Kerry representing Ireland in the World Masters. Ger Cremmins (O35) and Thomas Griffin (O40). Both athletes did exceptionally well in their individual events. Ger Cremin , 13th in the World over the 60 Meter Hurdles M35 8.97 seconds.  They were also part of the 4x200m Relay team. Here they finished in 8th place with a new Irish Record time of 1:38.38
