Tralee Half & Full Marathon 2014

This was the second year of the Tralee Marathon was held on Sunday 16th March 2014. The numbers in the full were well down this year. From 542 finishers in the full marathon in 2013, the numbers were down 32% this year with 370 crossing the finish line.
The Half marathon saw a small increase to just over 800.

Weather conditions were good for a long distance run. 10oC with heavy mist for the first hour, but then cleared to a dry and overcast day with a slight breeze.

The Tralee Full & Half Marathon was also part of the County Club Championships. 

Yet again Maria McCarthy showed her dominance in the distance runs where she was the first lady to finish the Half Marathon in a new PB of 01:22:11. Maria also won this event last year. Caitriona Barry ran a PB in the half to take third spot in a time of 01:28:14. Other club members who competed in the half marathon were Michelle Hoare ran fantastically to finish in 01:38:18 where she took the bronze in the county C'Ships. Equally as good Eileen Egan ran the half in 01:38:16 and she picked up the O45 category.

We has a Farranfore top 3 finishers in the senior county half marathon championships with Maria, Caitriona & Michelle. If their were county team medals then Farranfore would have taken these also. We do not understand why this was not the case as it was a championship!!!

George McCarthy and Aidan McCarthy also competed in the Half . George finished 5th overall in a time of 01:18:25. He took gold in the O40 county championship. Aiden was in 11th place overall with a time of 01:23:57. This was a new PB for Aidan. So well done to all.

In the Full Marathon, Aidan Benson completed it in 03:34:13 he was 64th to cross the line
