Quill Cup |
The Kerry AAI Senior Track and Field championships were well contested in An Riocht Track on Bank Holiday Monday, 6th May under sunny conditions. The wind was a minor issue down the back stretch of the track, and overall it was a good days competition.
The overall men's result for the Quill Cup was won by Farranfore Maine Valley AC on 29 points.
The last time Farranfore club won this prestigious title was back in 2009 and this years team has still got some of those athletes.
The men's team was made up of:
Ian Crowley, Daniel Clifford, Sean O'Shea, Niall Prendiville, Arthur Fitzgerald and George McCarthy.
Ian Crowley won medals in the High Jump (silver), Long Jump and Triple Jump (silver)
Daniel Clifford won gold in Hammer, Shot & Discus
Sean O'Shea won silver in 56Lb (PB), Javelin
Niall Prendiville won gold in the walk, silver in 800m & Gold in 3000m team
Arthur Fitzgerald took Bronze in 3000m & Gold in Team
George McCarthy won Bronze in 800m, Gold in 3000m Team
FFMV team made up of Arthur, Niall, George & Daniel won Gold in 4x400m Relay
In the ladies events:
Niamh De Hora ran very well to take silver in the 400m and had and excellent race in the 800m with taking Gold followed by her club mate
Maria McCarthy to take silver. Maria also had a convincing win over the 3000m distance.
