National Masters Indoor C'Ships - 2013

Big numbers were the order of the day at the Woodie’s DIY National Masters Indoor championships held at the superb Athlone IT Arena today. There were races a-plenty, especially in the longer distances, as athletes set about achieving new PBs on the ultra-fast track and pleasant surroundings.

I have noticed that the mens high jump and womens 3000m are not in the results at date of printing this.

We had four athletes competing in the national events:
Mike O'Connor took part in the V6 3000m walk race. He won his category with a PB time of 17:27:94
Jim O'Shea continued his winning ways with an impressive 3 medals in the V8 category. Silver in the 60m (09:56), Gold in the Long Jump (3,84m) and Gold in the High Jump.
Maria McCarthy competing in her very first national indoors took bronze in the V1 3000m at a time of 10:34:33 and followed this up by taking gold in the 1500m at a time of 05:09:64
George McCarthy raced in the V2 3000m distance. This was one of the most competitive events of the day with over 16 athletes in the V2 alone. George finished in 9th place with a PB time of 09:43.
Well done to you all.
